ICEM, the
leading provider of styling, high-quality surface modelling and
rendering solutions and Intel Corporation, the world's largest chip
maker, today announced a new performance breakthrough in design
visualization software for use in the design development of a wide
range of manufactured products. ICEM and Intel collaborated to optimize
the leading performance of the Quad-core Intel® Xeon® Processor 5400
Series with ICEM solutions in order to benefit from the latest
technological improvements such as high clock frequency & fast and
huge bandwidth. Those improvements will accelerate the adoption of
Intel technologies by ICEM for its leading applications &
developments.
“Designing real time high quality rendering & modelling software
has always been a challenge. With the advent of complex and ultra
realistic 3D models, the computational horsepower requirement has
dramatically increased. Optimizing ICEM Surf, widely used by most
automotive OEMs as key component of design workflow, take advantage of
the high speed & huge bandwidth of the new Quad-core Intel® Xeon®
processor 5400 Series allows to improve the performance by 13%
comparing to the previous generation of Quad-core Intel Xeon processor
with similar clock frequency” said Ingo Stadel, Principal Graphic
Software Development Engineer, “and up to 36% with Intel Xeon E542
Series at 2.8GHz”.
With all the new technologies introduced by
the Quad-core Intel® Xeon® processor 5400 Series, the implementation of
previously intractable algorithms becomes a reality leading to a major
breakthrough in video quality.
“Not to mention, working with
Intel underpins ICEMs position as leading provider for design
solutions. It is considered as testimony for our ability to deliver
technology ahead of their time” said Doris Hopert, Director ICEM
R&D.
